Belgrade - The tourism organization of the municipality of Ljubovija organized on Thursday in Belgrade the media promotion of the upcoming Drina regatta, which this year is being held under with the slogan "Fix the Drina".
The media conference was held during the ship's navigation on the Sava River, in the presence of a dozen national and regional media outlets. that reported on this event and the rich program that the regatta brings.
The event on the ship was attended by the director of the Tourist Organization of Serbia, Marija Labović, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Youth Goran Josipović, Director of the Tourism Organization of the Municipality of Ljubovija Ivana Smiljanić and Captain of the Drina Regatta Zoran Vojinović.
Marija Labović said that the Drina regatta in Ljubovia not only connects active vacations, but also gastronomy, tradition and culture.
- Serbia has more than 900 events in during the year, but during the summer periods the largest number of manifestations related to activities in nature take place right here - says Labović and adds that this region is adorned with natural beauty, and the Drina river is extraordinary.
- In every sense, whoever comes will have a very positive and meaningful experience. Tourists are looking for authenticity, they are looking for a new experience, that's why we invite people to come to this Drina regatta - emphasized Labović.



Director of the Tourist Organization of Ljubovija Ivana Smiljanić said that Ljubovija offers adventure, peace and spiritual strength.
- This year, from July 8 to 12, he is expecting you a rich and varied program, and we especially highlight the big descent down the Drina on the last day. The Drina then becomes a river of music, laughter and community - says Smiljanić.



Assistant Minister of Tourism and Youth Goran Josipović said that the "Drina regatta" in Ljubovia is one of the most beautiful events in Serbia.
- The Ministry of Tourism and Youth will always support this as well as all other manifestations in Serbia - said Josipović.



The captain of the Ljubovija Drina regatta, Zoran Vojinović, emphasized that the event was founded with the aim of preserving the Drina and its water resources.
- Since 2000 we set a goal to preserve the Drina river and water resources. We said that we would leave them to our generations in no worse condition than we found them. Perhaps the most important thing we wanted to achieve and we managed to do was for the Drina to be a component river, to connect the banks, to show as Serbian hosts how much we love our country, our Serbia and how much we will do to preserve it both ecologically and in every other aspect - stated Vojinović.



After sailing, the attendees were served traditional "Drina beans", a dish that is prepared for the participants every year regatta during the break in Gornja Trešnjica. This year, the serving of beans will also have a humanitarian character, as they will be collected funds for the reconstruction of a family house.
As a reminder, the Drina regatta is celebrating its small anniversary this year - 25 years of existence. The program has already started with sports tournaments, and the main part of the event will take place from July 8 to 12. Within the program will be organized activities such as "Water Games - Straighten the Drina" and "Wood play", while concerts at the city swimming pool have been announced for the musical part, on Friday Željko Samardžić will perform, and Ana Bekuta on Saturday.
